The University of International Business and Economics held an inauguration ceremony for the School of Government along with an academic symposium in Beijing on Thursday.
Yu Haichun, dean of the School of Government, hosted the event. Lu Xin, former vice-minister of education and current member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and UIBE leadership gave speeches at the inauguration ceremony.
Jiang Qingzhe, Party secretary of UIBE, announced the School of Public Administration would be renamed as the School of Government. Jiang said the change was made to adjust to the emerging needs in modern administration and modern governance systems, and the School of Governance will not only educate Chinese students but also pay attention to communication with foreign students.
“The School of Governance should make full use of UIBE’s rich experience in business administration and international trade and business administration, many of which were projects led by the Commerce Ministry,” said Xia Wenbin, president of the UIBE, during the interview. Xia added that governmental capacity has played an increasingly important role, which especially stood out during the pandemic.
Xia also mentioned Chinese and foreign students can learn from each other based on mutual respect, deepening mutual understanding and studying with a broader vision.
